The Meaning of Life

LitFire Publishing September 15, 2016

With the passage of time I am thinking more and more of what the meaning of life is all about and what is its purpose. In my meditation I realize that there are the least two categories of people in this life.

One category is formed from people who understand that all that exists and is seen is balanced by something else that is not seen, although it exists. This is the group of people who believes in the existence of God and His sovereignty.

The other category of people is the one that includes people who do think that all that it is, it came into existence by chance and randomness, thus denying the existence of the Almighty God.

These two beliefs create a frame of thinking that shapes our lives into a life of purpose, joy and hope or into a life of confusion, deceit, hopelessness and death.

Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father, but by Me”- John 14:6. Also He said in John 7: 38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water”. Jesus Christ is the Creator of the universe and our personal creator. The psalmist says in Psalms 139:13 the following: “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb”/ 14-“I will praise You for I am fearful and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works and that my soul knows well”.

We are not the product of an evolutionary process as the evolutionists claim. We are created by God to glorify Him and to bless the fellow human beings that we come in contact with on daily basis.

Another beautiful reminder is in Psalms 19, verses 1 and 2 that say: “The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handy work”/ “Day unto day utters speech and night unto night reveals knowledge”. Further in verse seven it is written: “the law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple”.

By our separation from God, the meaning of life was lost, the blinds were put on and the man became the measure of all things- the man became his only god. Forgiveness is not known, love in its true meaning does not exist and the people live according to their own thoughts. But God had a plan when He created us, knowing that we will go astray and make a mess of our lives. This plan was to “send His only begotten Son” to show us how to live and why to live and to redeem us from the helplessness of our condition by taking away our sins, dying on the cross. Thus He gave us His forgiveness and restoration and reconciliation with God the Father. Jesus was the spotless Lamb, who did not sin at all, who loved this world so much that He brought Himself as a sacrifice for us. We are invited to believe in Him so that we will “not perish, but have the everlasting life” John 3:16

Jesus won the victory over sin by His death and resurrection. Today He is alive and still waiting for people to come to Him to be forgiven and to live a life of purpose with joy and hope, giving us power and strength from day to day.
