God’s Love in Four Poems
Expressing God’s Love through Poetry
God’s love for His people is unconditional. If you’re familiar with the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15: 11–22), the father’s love for his son is similar to the Lord’s love for us, His children. No matter how far we stray from the light, He will always embrace us with open arms when we find our way back to Him.
Because He loves us so much, everything God does is for our sake. Four poems from my book, Praises in the Storm, show the extent of His compassion and mercy for mankind.
The first poem I’m going to share is “There Is Much Power in Your Blood.” The first stanza paints a picture of how priceless Christ’s blood is, as it was the price He paid for mankind’s salvation:
There is much power in Your blood,
Which flows from Your torn body
Because You loved us, so much
And with a high price You saved us.
Another poem is “The Crucifixion.” Just like the first poem, we see Christ’s sacrifice to save humankind.
And yet there was no other solution:
Jesus had to bear our sins on the cross.
Because it was the Lord’s will, Jesus did not object His fate—even if it meant losing His life. In Christianity, the cross represents the sinners’ salvation from sin. Next time you encounter one, it is a reminder that God has saved mankind from evil.
“In This Jar of Clay” is inspired by 2 Corinthians 4:7. The jar symbolizes humans—flawed and vulnerable. However, it is important to remember that we are valuable in God’s eyes, despite our shortcomings.
In this jar of clay made by Your hands
Lord, You could hide Your treasure
You put in it so much richness, helping it to stand
The thought towards eternity that has no measure.
Matthew 13:3–23 serves as the basis of the last poem, “The Sower and the Seed.” Think of the sower as God, the different soils as people, and the seeds as God’s word. We should remind ourselves that understanding and accepting the Gospel wholeheartedly fosters good Christian living, as we also spread the Word through all corners of the land.
However, those who received the Word on good soil
Are those who hear and understand it,
Choose His promises,
Put them in their souls and are redeemed.
I hope through these poems and their messages, God’s love has made its way to you. Questions, comments, and discussions are highly encouraged.
